  1. Just tried a couple of these as an indoor antenna (with snow, freezing temps and high winds, it wasn’t the best time to try setting it up outdoors!) for a new flat screen TV and for an older TV with a converter box, with the hope it’d be better than rabbit ears but it wasn’t, even with the amplifier. Using it on the first or second floor made no difference; with the rabbit ears I only got an ION station and that’s all I got with this unit. Stations I was hoping to get originate in Providence (about 30 miles north of me) and Boston (about 60 miles north). I suppose I could have kept it and tried mounting it outside when the weather improves, but decided if I’m going to do that I’d be better off following the AntennaWeb recommendations and put the work into mounting a “real” multi-element outdoor antenna.

  2. $27 + tax at Walmart. Great reception indoors in upstairs bedroom with a line-of-sight to the TV towers on South Mountain in Phoenix. Tried tuning channels downstairs but couldn’t find channel 8 (local PBS). Moved upstairs, sited the TV, with the antenna hanging from the ceiling. did the auto tune on the TV again (btw Samsung LN26B360 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV), and found channel 8 – all 4 of them (8.1 thru 8.4).Great reception, recommended, 5 stars.

  3. I bought this few days ago for a friend and noticed that it was to pickup about 37 channels (near san bruno). Sadly we had to return it, as except for two or 3 channels, everything else was chinese, mexican and a bunch of boring channels. But it was so easy to set up and it was very quick in picking up all the channels.

  4. I just set it behind our tv and it has worked perfectly. We picked up about 35 channels with this and we are very pleased with it.

  5. I first purchased and tried the RCA ANT1400M and was completely unimpressed. I had to move the antenna to a special location for each individual channel.

I returned the RCA and bought this Phillips SDV2940 and saw much improvement. I had to adjust the placement several times before I could get each channel consistently, but other than that we are happy with it.

This antenna isn’t designed isn’t designed to just sit on your tv set, etc.; it is designed to be mounted to your wall (inside) or installed outside. We opted to set it in the window and ‘hold’ it in place with a couple of pieces of strong tape.
