  1. You can make your own judgement based on this review. It’s not so much about the TV – in fact, non of this review is really about the TV.

When I hooked it up and turned it on, the new LG was… damaged. The liquid crystal display looked like it fell off the truck.

Call Amazon: After being cut off while on hold, I had to call back. I would estimate I spent at least 30 minutes on the phone. So the steal I got on the LG 37 with the wonderful 240 hz is now on hold. “Well, sir, we don’t have any of these in stock. If you’d like to find another TV, we can discount it 10%.”

So when it’s all said and done, I’m waiting for Amazon to call me (which I question if they will – since she told me to call them if I find it first for that price… what????).

My customer service experience was not a good one. You’d think a company like Amazon would have conveyed a bit more empathy for a customer who received a damaged TV.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that 1. They call me and 2. It’s days and not weeks.

  2. Can’t beat this for the price! Picture is as good as my XBR7 Sony and Surround sound is very adequate. Goldstar (LG) has come a LONG way.

  3. LG 37LH55 with 240 hz refresh rate.

Admittedly this is my first HDTV and while I’m not a pro at all with this technology, I have to admit I’m pleasantly surprised. I’ve done periodic research of HDTV’s for at least a year, so much in fact that I had become exasperated with trying to compare manufacturers and features. I have had my eye on LG for awhile but know the name is not Sony…RCA…Samsung….Toshiba or what appears to be some of the top names. I was looking for quality picture, good stereo sound and, most importantly, a low price. I came across this amazing special on amazon.com just days before Black Friday and seized the opportunity. I’m glad I did because I have not seen the price as low as I paid and I’ve been watching for a few weeks.

I thought, for the price, I might get a ‘good set’. WOW!! Was I surpised! Not only did I have an amazing experience with Amazon (shipped and received days before I expected) I got an amazing TV! The initial set up was extreamly easy, and the features review and navigation is very intuitive as I’ve read from other reviewers. Having a very expensive entertainment center I purchased a few years ago, I was limited to a 37″ W set. I could not be happier with my purchase from Amazon and the LG product. I was so impressed with LG that I went out the very next day after setting the set up and purchased a LG Home Theater, which I’m equally impressed with (especially because of the price!!). The SimpLink feature used between the LG products is just that….a very simple link from one product to the other. I’m struggling with using so many remotes right at this point, but sure I can find a way to make the process simpler by using only one remote (any suggestions readers?). Seems a lot of reviewers put down the 240 hz as just another gimmick to sell, but I have yet to see any blurring or hazy pictures on this set, every thing is crystal clear and sharp.

Lastly, for those who have been holding back on getting HD TV…DON’T WAIT. HD IS AMAZING! and I’m a bit sorry I didn’t get this a year ago.

  4. I purchased this because it is the most versatile set I could find, with the best picture and viewing angle. I use it mainly as a monitor to edit photos, and for that it works great. The onscreen calibration tools work very nicely, and my Apple automatically recognizes the LG profile and applies it.

If you are connecting to a computer, you will need an adapter for the HDMI interface (works well with my Apple, even without a HD video card). There is also a port to plug in a regular PC RGB cable (the kind that connects a PC to a monitor), but that option will display a smaller image (only about half the screen size). Go with the HDMI interface – it gives a full screen size, and the display quality is the same (which is dependent on your video card).

I can’t rate the sound since I have only used external speakers so far.

I could not find this product anywhere locally. It was nice to find it on Amazon, and even nicer for the price I paid. The delivery was a little slower than I expected, but the folks who delivered it were super – set it up and made sure it was working before they left.

  5. Amazon posted this television at $649 during the week of Black Friday. It retails at $1,300+. The brand, features and price had me sold. I just received it yesterday and look forward to the quality entertainment.
