Product Description
AVR-1910 is packed with technology and features making it the clear choice for value oriented consumers looking for exceptional performance. Each of its 7-amplifier channels produce 90 watts of power, delivering detail and dynamics to music and movie soundtracks. They can be configured for 7.1 channel surround sound, or drive a 5.1 channel system in the main room and power a pair of speakers in a second “zone”. It’s equipped with 1080p compatible HDMI 1.3a Repeating technology, delivering both audio and video to your HDTV with single HDMI cable. This HDMI connectivity supports the latest generation surround sound formats available on Blu-ray disc, including Dolby TrueHD and DD+, dts-HD and dts-HR. Also included is Dolby Laboratories new Pro Logic IIz Matrix decoding featuring front height effects channels that expands front soundstage. The AVR1910 boast a number of Audyssey technologies. Advanced Audyssey MultEQ analyzes a speaker systems interaction with room acoustics, and then delivers custom tailored correction processing to optimize clarity and tonal balance throughout the listening space. Audyssey Dynamic Volume is an automatic volume-leveling system that tracks audio dynamics to eliminate the irritating volume swings between TV shows and commercials. Audyssey Dynamic EQ is also on board to ensure rich bass and smooth tonal balance at low volume listening levels. In addition to enhanced HDMI 1.3a repeating (4 in, 1 out), the AVR1910 is the least expensive receiver in the Denon lineup to feature 1080p i/p conversion, analog to HDMI upscaling and HDMI to HDMI scaling. Video conversion is accomplished using a premium Anchor Bay Technologies 1030 chip set featuring 10-bit processing. The AVR1910 also features component video switching (2 in, 1 out), seven analog inputs, and multi-zone (2)/multi-source (2) capability. A front-panel audio/video input allows quick and easy connection of camcorders and game systems.

  1. don’t have any review of the unit yet as I just picked it up from Best Buy. I went to their Magnolia unit and asked if they would price match the very similar Denon AVR 790 and, surprisingly, they would. Picked mine up for over $120 off the retail just by asking.

This is my second Denon receiver, first is an AVR 3801 bought 7-8 years ago and which is killer but lacks HDMI, so as I recently got a new Samsung LCD and I don’t want to have to run a gazillion cables to get surround on the new TV, I got this puppy. I am sure it will satisfy my needs, just hope it is not too much of a pain to set up.

    Update: August 8, 2009

I’ve had the unit for about a month and a half and it was not too bad to set up. A few annoying quirks and consulting Batpig’s set up guide and batpig himself helped resolve most of the issues I had setting the unit up. It sounds great and I am happy with the unit.

  2. I read all the reviews from the persons who wrote before me and trusted their judgement.

I just received the 1910 last week from Crutchfield and so far it is excellent.

The remote is a little confusing.

  3. I have purchased Yamaha receivers, 5.1, with the last purchase 2005. I was looking to upgrade with HDMI inputs and eliminate a bunch of cables. After reading the current reviews on the Yamaha, entry level, I went on a search for other brands. After reading the review for Denon’s 1910 on [...], I was sold on this Denon model, w/o going in debt. I have it hooked up to DIRECTV HD, with 50 inch Panasonic Plasma, with 5 JBL Northridge speakers, one subwoofer, coupled with Sony DVD and Pioneer DVR. The picture quality is outstanding from all components using the HDMI monitor out from this receiver. The upconversion using component cables on my 4 year old DVR was free from any visual distractions. If you want better upconversion you will have to buy the higher end Denon models which offer an enhanced video processor[ABT] The picture quality is STELLAR along with the audio. Be patient with the auto-set up, as it tests all your speakers and adjusts for best performance. The sound from my speakers are much more subtle than from my previous 4 year old Yamaha. Hearing Denon is believing! The advertised price at American TV, Rockford, IL, was [...]. I asked the salesman for a better price and he came up with [...]. As with all remotes for AVR’s, I would give this a 3 out of 5. The manual gets a 3 out of 5 too. Hook all your components into this higher end entry level Denon AVR-1910 and you will be all smiles. I am a Denon believer.

  4. Great Home Theater Receiver. Too easy to deal with, very intuitive configuration mode.

I was in doubt between 1910 and 2809. They had a U$300 difference. I’m very glad that I’ve bought this 1910 because it’s exactaly the same thing in terms of capacity and, of course, in terms of what I’d need / use inmy HT.

    Recommend 100%!!!

  5. We had an audio domino effect. Getting a new LED Samsung TV led to a few new speakers, including a Klipsch center and a pair of Definitive bookshelf style and upgrading to FiOS. Wanting to hear as beautifully as we were seeing, our old AVR that had no HDMI inputs had to go. Choosing the Denon was all about trusting our ears. (You can read the data in other reviews) It was also important to have all the latest audio decoding as well as 1080p upscaling so we would not be missing out on any of the music or video capabilities. This Denon has not only 4 HDMI inputs, but 2 optical inputs as well. Easily covered the whole range of our devices. Just beautiful sound throughout a range of volume. We particularly appreciate that it manages to deliver great sound beyond that center sweet spot, so everyone hears great audio, not just the person who grabs the center seat.

We are running the whole system with a Logitech Harmony One remote. Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote It interfaces great with the Denon.
